Summer of 1989: Surrounded by Sound

The Marching Patriots started out the year with their summer track show. They won at the Delaware County Fair and placed seventh at the Indiana State Fair. Then, in the fall, they moved on to field show, where they received a First Division at District Contest. The band also gave two concerts. The Christmas Concert was presented on December 4 and the Spring Concert was April 9.

The Patriot Band took a trip to Philadelphia over the Thanksgiving holiday. While in Philly, the Patriots marched in the Channel 6 Thanksgiving Day Parade and visited many historical sites including Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Then the Marching Patriots traveled to the Big Apple where they attended a Broadway show, shopped at Macy's department store, and rode to the top of the Empire State Building.

The band also took a trip to the Indy 500 to march in their Festival Parade. The Patriots also participated on Race Day by marching around track.
