Band: Second Place in State!

Another year of fairs, camp, contests, concerts, and fundraising has successfully been accomplished for Mr. Humbert's crew.

The band took part in the Indiana State Fair competition and came home with the runner-up trophy. The Marching Patriots were a mere .35 of a point away from first place, with an overall excellent performance.

Among the other achievements for the band were first place in the Indiana Band Tourney in Muncie, Indiana; first place in the Sun Fun Festival in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; second place at a contest in Anderson, Indiana, called "Music in Motion;" and finally, the band brought home the bronze from the Bluffton Street Fair. They were also a part of the Ball State Homecoming Parade.

In November, the band was invited to Chicago to be part of the McDonald's Charity Christmas Parade that aired on national television.

Have good posture: Senior Amanda Wilson marches at the Pennville Fair in July. Amanda shows that Band not only involves the ability to play well but also the ability to march.

Leader of the pack: Senior Jeremy Crouch leads the way down Meridian Street during the Fourth of July parade.

And the winner is... The Marching Patriots await the reading of the state champion. They receive second place honors just .35 of a point behind Monroe Central.

Guard at its best!

Starting off the summer with those long hot days, the majorettes worked long hours getting ready for State Fair. Working with different routines was really challenging. Going to Band Camp was really exciting. They went to Miami University for a change instead of Ball State. They stayed there for a week in August and worked from morning till night. During the school year it was really fun. They were required to go to basketball and football games and perform for the audiences. The girls were responsible for making up their own routines for half time and pre-game at home basketballs.
