When an audience member attends a performance, they go because they want to be entertained. They sit back and enjoy, trying to escape from their problems. What they don't realize is all the strenuous effort the performers put into making the show a success.
At JCHS there are a number of performance groups: band, friendship company, music connections, guard, cheerleaders, and drama. Each one of these groups put in a tremendous amount of time and energy into putting together and executing a performance. Performers try to set an atmosphere where their audience can forget their troubles, at least for a little while, and be drawn into a world of fantasy. Not only do they perform for organizations in the community, but for competition as well. These groups do so much together that they become close and fell like they are family.

Approximately 150 members of the Jay County High School Marching Patriots marched in the Pegasus Parade in downtown Louisville, KY on Thursday, April 30, 1999. The annual parade, pictured above, was part of the 1999 Kentucky Derby Festival.
The Marching Patriots also held their annual awards buffet. Carrie Meehan was recognized as an outstanding guard member. Mary Reinhart was recognized as an outstanding senior.
Other members receiving their award letters were Juniors Nikki Brinkerhoff, Kim Brown, Jon Fuller, Amy Haun, Kara Hedges, Tyler Helm, Emily Horn, Amanda Horner, Lindsey Hurt, Erin Imel, Dustin Jones, Adam Keever, Sean LeMaster, Liza Luzadder, Stephanie Mast, Lisa McKee, Ryan Muhlenkamp, Libby Prifogle, John Reier, Erin Richards, Megan Rinker, Meggan Ruchgy, Kim Shockey, Eric Siegrist, Kim Smitley, Mischa Staton, Dara Taylor, Rachel Walker, and Libby Weaver.
Juniors Angie Bye, Lexi Russell, John Gilbert, Cara Barger, Katie Brown, and Katrina Myers, who did not go on the band trip, also received their award letters.
